After defeating the Gronnling, he then sent up a general call to arms, and just in time as the garrison was attacked. The Quartermaster himself was taken during the hostilities after the ogre magi participating in the fight destroyed the western wall, and Martrake, recently and belatedly returned, for some reason opened the northern gate to distract the forces.
